Requests must be submitted in writing. Cambridge Academy will provide access within 45 days.
FERPA & PPRA POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
At Cambridge Academy, we are committed to protecting the privacy and rights of our students and families. This document outlines our policies and procedures regarding:
FERPA: Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act
PPRA: Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment
These federal laws ensure that families have access to and control over their children's educational records and the information collected from students.

FERPA is a federal law that affords parents and eligible students (18 years or older) certain rights regarding a student’s education records.
Parent/Student Rights under FERPA:
Parents/guardians (or eligible students) have the right to:
Inspect and review the student’s education records within 45 days of the request.
Request amendment of inaccurate or misleading records.
Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information (PII), except where FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.
File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged FERPA violations.
Directory Information:
Cambridge Academy may designate certain student data as “directory information,” such as:
Student’s name
Grade level
Participation in recognized activities/sports
Honors and awards
Photographs for school use (newsletters, yearbooks, website, etc.)
Parents/guardians may opt-out of directory information disclosures by submitting a written request within 10 school days of receiving this notice each school year.
Disclosure Without Consent:
FERPA permits disclosure without consent in specific circumstances, including:
School officials with legitimate educational interest
Other schools to which a student is transferring
Specified officials for audit/evaluation
Appropriate parties in health and safety emergencies
Juvenile justice system authoritieshere

The PPRA provides rights regarding surveys, collection, and use of information for marketing purposes, and certain physical exams.
Consent for Certain Student Information Collection:
Cambridge Academy must obtain prior written consent before students are required to participate in a survey, analysis, or evaluation funded by the U.S. Department of Education that reveals information concerning:
Political affiliations or beliefs
Mental or psychological problems
Sexual behavior or attitudes
Illegal, antisocial, or self-incriminating behavior
Religious practices or beliefs
Family income (except as required for eligibility in programs)
Critical appraisals of close family relationships
Notification and Opt-Out Rights:
Parents have the right to:
Be notified annually of this policy.
Inspect any survey administered to students by the school.
Opt out of:
Certain surveys (not federally funded)
School activities that collect personal information for marketing/selling purposes
Non-emergency invasive physical exams

Requesting Educational Records:
Requests must be submitted in writing to the school office. Cambridge Academy will provide access within 45 days.
Requesting Amendment to Records:
Submit a written request to the School Principal, clearly identifying the part of the record to be changed and why it is inaccurate or misleading.
Opt-Out Requests:
Parents may submit opt-out requests (directory info, surveys, etc.) by:
Completing the FERPA/PPRA Opt-Out Form available in the front office or school website
Submitting it to the office within 10 school days of the start of the academic year or enrollment
